When we were young there is a reaction that we feel towards a dangerous situation. This reaction gradually becomes ingrained in our subconscious minds. We recognize this negative feeling, but we still embrace it as part of being human. This feeling that builds up is what we called fear.
What is “fear”?
Fear occurs as a response to a threatening or scary situation that can cause anxiety, depression, and nervousness. Fear debilitates us up to the moment that we no longer feel the urge to continue. It strikes in a manner that we can’t foresee all the positive possibilities in front of us. Rather, it leads us to think about the worst that could happen.
Although fear is a negative reaction, it also has a positive impact as part of a defense mechanism. In being afraid, we become familiar with a situation. We also find ways to escape or avoid that situation. It’s an essential part of preparedness against threats. However, it becomes a problem when you let it take over the decisions you make in your life.
Steps to overcoming fear.
Face and accept your fears
Acknowledging your fears and knowing that it’s okay are the keys to overcoming fear. This ill feeling won’t stay within you for too long, so don’t downgrade yourself because you feel fear. In fact, it is totally okay to feel fear. Don’t worry about it because at the end of the day it’ll all be fine. Know what you’re made of and become a fighter.
Know your problem and define
Knowing your fears or knowing what you are scared of is important so we can easily address the problem. You will need to relax your mind first and think back to how the fear was developed. Write down your problems and their origins. From there, you can examine each problem and come up with better solutions.
Face it head on
You’re not a prisoner of your fears. Don’t immobilize yourself because of them. There is no “I’ll do it tomorrow or late.” You’ll have to do it now! Act and resolve it. Face whatever consequences that may occur. The most important thing is that you take action. It’ll be a lesson for you to grow to remember that fears are not there to last long. Whatever happens, you’re going to pass through it.
Stand up and Rise again
Nah! You’re not backing down with this fear since you already know what you’re going to do. You have to rise above it and visualize yourself conquering it once and for all! You’ll feel good, I guarantee it. So, pick yourself up and embrace the fact that victory over your fears is possible!
Internalize the lessons in life
Embrace the best feeling of success that you’ve overcome your fears. Learn from them and the next time that you square off with an insurmountable challenge, you’ll be ready. After all, you’re already equipped with the lessons that you’ve gained from the struggles you have experienced.
